- D T 4/04/2019Can't fault the Victoria hotel despite the extensive building work going on when we stayed. Lovely extensive breakfast with so much food and choice, we left stuffed so we weren't hungry all day. Dinner the evening before was pretty tasty. Victoria is a city hotel stuck down in a tight spot but very close to Eyre Square, and all the centre of activities in the city, and its staff and workers are all very welcoming and helpful. The bedroom wasn't huge but the beds were comfortable, having a bath and a shower in the spacious bathroom was wonderful, loads of hot water and all you could need. The decor is tasteful, everything worked. The window was pretty dirty but as it's mid-winter and it was dark when we got in, following a hospital appointment, we pulled the very heavy curtains and slept very well. Great location for doing Galway City on foot and leaving the car behind, as Galway city is NOT recommended for a visitor to bring a car into. Moreread moreread lessE8151BCjamesl 8/08/2021Excellent location and recently refurbished I had read mixed reviews about Victoria Hotel so wasn’t sure about my hotel choice. The poor reviews and photos seem to have been from before the renovations so if you’re looking at traveller photos, look at the date as only the newer photos really apply.
The staff in the hotel are really friendly and we had no issues at all during our stay.
Our room was spotless and the only thing I’d change is the chance to cool it down with air conditioning as it was a little hot at night even with the window open.
The hotel is perfectly located just off Eyre Square. It’s not noisy at night considering how close it is to the square.
We dined 1 of the evenings in the bar and the food was fantastic. It was a nice atmosphere in the bar with all staff adhering to Covid guidelines etc. It was table service only for drinks but the staff were very efficient and we didn’t go without once
Breakfast was a very nice on both mornings. Had to book a time slot but had no issue getting a time we wanted
Just a tip. We priced our stay on Booking .com and phoned up the Victoria to see could they match it. Not only could they offer a better rate, they added breakfast and free parking (our parking bill was €37 for the weekend) so we got a great deal by booking direct. Parking is in Hynes yard about 200m down the road.

Such a simple and basic thing to provide. When we checked in the receptionist told us they had taken note that 1 guest needed a gluten free breakfast so why did the fail to provide?
